Tom Sawyer 8' • (Listen & Read) • Read 4
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (modified from summary by CTP)
Ch 1. Intro. Tom is naughty. He stays with Aunt Polly and his half-brother Sidney, who was never in trouble but liked to see Tom in trouble.
Ch 2. Ben Rogers came by while Tom had to paint the fence. He fools other boys into painting, second Billy Fisher, next Johnny Miller etc. Tom got gifts for letting the others work! He passes Judge Thatcher’s house with a lovely little girl with yellow hair. ~♥~
Ch 3. Tom hates school. He has got one loose tooth. Tom met Huckleberry Finn, son of the town’s drunkard. Huck is lazy, lawless, bad, didn’t go to school. He was dirty, swore. Tom came late to school. Teacher angry. Tom said he had met Huck, because he expected the punishment would be ”sit with the girls” and there was an empty chair beside the girl with the yellow hair. They talked.
Ch 4. Tom and Huck play. A dead cat.
Ch 5. Tom and Huck witness a murder. Injun Joes kills Dr. Robinson and puts the knife in Potter’s hand.
Ch 6. Jackson’s Island. The cat gets a pain-killer. Tom, Joe, and Huck meet at Jackson’s Island, pretending to be pirates.
Ch 7. Tom is thought dead. Tom listens.
