Mr. Framton lived in London but went to the countryside. Why?

Framton brought har med sig  letters. Where did he get them?

Why was he given them? 

A century ago för ett århundrade sen, in "polite society" fint sällskap, people wrote letters of introduction. They were a way to make contacts bekanta sig med folk. What are two ways people meet nowadays? (The answer is not in the story.)

When was Framton's sister in that town? 

Vera talked about the open door. Did she say why it was open?

Why was the door open, according to enligt  Vera?

What is the real reason the door is open?  

Vera made up a story about the open door. She said that Mrs. Stappleton was waiting for people who died three years ago. Does Vera say this before or after Framton tells her that he has not (yet) met Mrs. Sappleton? 

Framton believed what the girl said. Why?

In this short story, Vera tells two stories. One to Framton (about the open door). The other about Framton (about why he ran away). Which one was true sant?

This story is set äger rum   in England in the 1910s. In those days, doctors would often tell people to rest in the country på landet. What do doctors say nowadays nuförtiden  to nervous people? (The answer is not in the story.)  

Framton's had a nervous disorder (sickness) when he came to the Stappleton house. Did he find peace and quiet in the country?

Framton may have run all the way to his doctor's office. Make up a dialog in which Framton tells his doctor about his stay in the country. 

There are three main characters (people) in this story. Describe them.

Answer:

· Framptom Nuttell loves talking about how nervous he is. He is shy. He believes the girl's story, so he is easily tricked.   · Vera is a clever, quick, and inventive teenager. She likes to trick people, even if it hurts them. She is also a good actress, getting Frampton to believe that she is terrified of the "ghosts" who walk up to the house.   · Mrs Sappleton is kind and polite. She is easily fooled by Vera who probably makes up stories all the time.
